‘Tooting House’ Construction Underway.
We're delighted to share progress on our transformation project in Wandsworth. With planning permission granted and full RIBA stages being delivered, construction is now underway.
This project involves the thoughtful renovation and extension of a beautiful Victorian terraced house situated within Wandsworth's Conservation Area. Our proposals centre around a ground-floor side return extension that honours the property's classical features whilst introducing carefully considered contemporary elements.
From the moment you enter, the design creates an engaging dialogue between wide and narrow spaces. A generous opening to the kitchen mirrors the grandeur of the front door, establishing a sense of arrival and openness. This is cleverly contrasted with a smaller, more intimate passage that leads to the living room, creating varied spatial experiences throughout the ground floor. A thoughtfully positioned window within the kitchen frames the view of the reception room whilst also maximising natural daylight, enhancing the connection between spaces.
The extension's rear elevation continues this thoughtful interplay of proportions, incorporating a combination of large and narrow openings complemented by a skylight that floods the interior with natural light. The architectural language speaks to both past and present—reclaimed London stock bricks pay homage to the area's heritage, whilst sleek Crittall doors introduce a modern, industrial elegance. This careful balance of preservation and innovation creates a seamless blend between old and new, enhancing both the interior living spaces and the exterior appearance whilst fully respecting the Conservation Area's distinctive character.
