‘The Coach House’ Helical Piles
Our project in Clapham Common is progressing.
We’re delighted to share the latest updates on our Clapham project, which continues to make impressive strides forward. The initial phase of ground works has been successfully completed. Axonometric diagrams describes the structural approach to the construction of the new extension and garden studio.
Working within conservation areas presents unique challenges that require innovative engineering solutions. For this project, located in a designated conservation area with numerous protected trees, Wandsworth Council imposed strict conditions to safeguard the existing mature tree canopies. To comply with these requirements and mitigate any potential impact on tree roots, we implemented helical pile foundations as the optimal foundation solution.
The local ground conditions, characterised by clay soils typical of the area, necessitated careful consideration of pile depths to achieve adequate load-bearing capacity. Our helical piles were installed to depths ranging from 6 to 8 metres, with variations determined by specific soil conditions and structural load requirements at different locations across the site. This foundation system not only met the council’s environmental protection criteria but also provided the structural integrity required for the development while preserving the protected trees that define the character of this conservation area
We look forward to sharing more updates about this transformative project in the coming months.
